20th Century Speedway in Folkestone is set to be an exciting new creative hub, meeting place and venue. The plan is to host clubs and social events for all ages to immerse themselves in music, poetry and art and various creative workshops.

The building is a converted Victorian industrial space. It has some amazing original features and sits within a conservation area. This is a brilliant example of how an old building can be repurposed to contribute back to society.
20th Century Speedway have benefitted from High Street Regeneration funding, and we have assisted in meeting the criteria for this.
Lockwood Building Projects were first asked to help with issues around a change of use planning application. We were able to advise on this and facilitate a smooth passage through the process for the owners. Following this we advised on an application for building control by designing the fire safety measures needed for compliance. Finally, we advised on an application for an alcohol license providing the drawings and text required for the client to make a successful application. This has all contributed to the renovation of one of the most exciting new spaces in Folkestone.
